Week 10 – 2 of 3

The buzz on the streets of Lawrence involves post season play with the tip-off to the start of basketball two weeks out. And with the Husker nation fearing their 36 year dominance over Hawks in jeopardy….Mangino and company have the fans in Lawrence excited. KU needs to pick up two wins against either Nebraska, Texas (in Austin), and/or Iowa State to find themselves in the same company as their FBB brethren come December. Anyway…here is this week’s lineup:

Pitt (+20.5) at Louisville – Thursday night game
Nebraska (-1) at Kansas
Texas (-28) at Baylor
Tech (-16) at TAMU
Miami (FL) (+6.5) at Va. Tech.

Tonight’s game. Dave Wannstadt – you’re a decent Christian man, but do the University of Pittsburg and yourself a favor and get the hell out of Dodge. After “living a lie” in the NFL with head coaching stints at Chicago and Miami, you probably have more money than God. Don’t you think you “gravy trained” off Jimmy Johnson long enough. You’re worse than Eldric Woods. Lu-ville in a romp.

Agreed…the Ville is in the Hut and are a lead pipe lock.

Can’t say that I am a big Wannstadt guy, but I’m taking Pitt… The line opened at Louisville (-18.5) in Vegas and has since been bet up to over 20… I’ll take the greaseballs in Vegas that set the lines before I will the betting public. Giving Pitt 20.5 points is just too much for team that has won three in a row and starts a veteran QB… The ‘ville wins but it is closer than the spread…

UL’s numbers blow Pitt away (6th on total yards, 14th in passing yards, 2nd in points scored), and there’s been a distinct difference between Louisville’s offensive output at home and on the road. In their three home games, against Oregon State, Florida Atlantic and North Carolina, the Cardinals are averaging 64.3 points. On the road, in four games against Kentucky, South Florida, West Virginia and Cincinnati, they’re averaging 33.8 points. I’ll take the Cards to cover.

Screwed out of the cover by a meaningless TD with 40 seconds left… Oh well, a win is a win.

Hate to pick against the Jayhawks and I really hate Nebraska and their coach Beau Bridges but I have to here… As much as I would like to see KU win in football and ease the pain of the Bucknell game I have to take the Cornholers here… Let’s face it, KU plays with the consistency of Roseanne’s ass matter (cellulite that is)… Coming off a big win KU can’t stand prosperity and the convicts from Lincoln take this one (although I’ll be pulling for the Jaychicks)…

Texas can’t afford not to wax Baylor by at least 40. Top BCS contenders shouldn’t take halves of football games off against sorry teams like UT did last week. If Va Tech handles Miami easily there is no way Texas should stay #2. The only reason they are there is because of meaningless pre-season ratings that had a mediocre Oh State ranked way too high. Bottom line is UT is overrated and again they should mop up on the dregs of one of the worst conferences in the country this year. Texas rolls. yawn.

Give me A&M at home with the points. Why; it’s like picking high school games (figuratively and literally). When both teams suck take the home dog getting double digits.

Va Tech rolls up on Miami and their virgin QB… Kyle Wright will be a stud in the years to come but right now its the Hokies year… I just want Va Tech, UT, Ala, and USC to all go undefeated just to screw the BCS honks yet again and hopefully force them to let the teams decide who is #1 on the field and not let some white taped-blacked glasses wearing number crunching loser on a PC do it. whew, talk about your run-on sentences. Va Tech to cover.

    NEBRASKA (-1) at KANSAS
Ok, both of their numbers suck. But Nebraska’s suck less. I’ll take the Huskers to cover.

    TEXAS (-28) at BAYLOR
    I can’t believe Baylor is only getting 28…UT covers + 10.

    TECH (-16) at TAMU
A&M with the Big 12’s worst pass defense against the nation’s fourth best scoring offense. In this case, it’s more than just location, location, location. Red Raiders cover.

MIAMI (FL) (+6.5) at VA. TECH
Let Larry Coker’s wisdom shin upon us, “It’s all going to boil down to who plays the best Saturday night,” he said. “Do we turn the ball over? Do they turn it over? Do we allow big plays? Do we get big plays?” Thanks. Kelsey could have told me that. I’ll take the Hokies to cover.

It’s nice to see Lu-vulle back in their normal Thursday night slot and viewing the game rather closely, I was intrigued by a couple of things. First, the name of Lu-vulle’s Stadium – Papa John Stadium. Whoa – Oh yes, who could forget the legendary coach and academian Papa John who lead the storied Louisville program to 6 Conference titles in the late 60’s. Also noticed the beautiful, new artificial turf which was SHORT, to take advantage of Lu-vulle’s tremendous team speed, and that sometimes schools get sponsors for their fields and/or basketball courts. I can just hear it now – Hey folks this is Mike Torico and welcome to beautiful Thin Crust Field at Papa John Stadium for tonight’s important Big East tilt”. Nice. very Nice.

Nebraska (-1) at Kansas – I sincerely HOPE KU wins, but am picking the Huskers to win and cover in a close game.

Texas (-28) at Baylor – TEXAS rolls and covers

Tech (-16) at TAMU – Tech wins and barely covers

Miami (FL) (+6.5) at Va. Tech. – The Hokies cover

Friends of FBB….you slept on the Hawks last week and appear to be making the same mistake this first week of Nov. The mythical Big Red is not what it used to be. In short, the infrastructure of Nebraska is crumbling. Classic example, for tbe last 36 years Lawrence was an eighth home game for the Huskers Memorial would sell out with close to 65% of the fans sporting red. This year is once again a sell out…with only 15,000 – 20,000 Nebraska fans on hand. The boys in Vegas have been listening to FBB as well as the line has swayed the way of the Jayhawks….quite possibly the first time in over 40 years. If we are going to end this embarrassing streak Saturday will be the day. ROCK CHALK>>>>>> Expect the cheer…Where is Frankkkk…..Where is Frankkkkkkkk

Texas covers as they know they need to match the focus in Blacksburg.

Tech enters the most hostile environment in college football and spoils the party. 16 is a ton on the road but give the intense hatred Tech has for TAMU, not matched by the opponent, Leech makes a loud statement for high Cotton.

I’m with RObert on this one. Va Tech will win and keep the BCS controversy flowing. The computer are not as high on the Canes…but I am. Given this will be a defensive battle I like the Hokes to win and hte Canes to cover.

Quick pics before the second deadline passes:
Rock Chalk Jayhawk – in a huge suprise – they should be getting more than just 1
    Grim Reepers
    Horns
    Canes

ESPN shows the Tech/A&M game being played in Lubbock, not College Station… That being said I am changing my pick to TT to cover… (It is still two hours to kickoff).

Congrats to KU; I despise Nebraska as much as TT despises playing good teams non-conference.
