Standings through 12

First off….kudos to Mark for going a perfect five for five; putting himself in position to climb out of the cellar. RObert, who must have been feleing the cellar’s draft also came on strong by picking up four. Despite the movement from the bottom the helmet sticker goes to Julie, the self-proclaimed winner of Week 2, who did just enough to maintain her lead over Blaine.

Here are the standings through yesterday’s slate:

  1. Julie: 32
  2. Blaine: 30
  3. self: 28
  4. RObert: 27
  5. Mark: 25

As always….you can double check the scores.

Or is it the other way around?

Week 12 Line-up

Here you go….

  • Iowa State at Kansas (-26)
  • Louisville (+6.5) at South Florida
  • Oklahoma at Texas Tech (+9)
  • Wildcard: Duke at Norte Dame (-5)
  • Wildcard: Ohio St at Michigan (+4)

KU  Iowa St at KU
Iowa St. is riding a wave of momentum coming off of their second straight win…though last week’s bizarre win over CU is suspect. Prior to, the Clones gave OU a run for their money and beat a bowl eligible Iowa team. They are one of the conference’s best teams at time-of-possession (for what that’s worth), the fourth least penalized (KU being the least penalized in the country), have a solid ground game, and one of the best senior QB/Receiver combos KU will face all season.

Typically a “body of work” such as this that would steer me away from giving up 26. But who am I to bet against the streak on Senior Day. This is as uncomfortable a KU line  that I’ve gone with this year…but I am sticking with Hawks. Look for BMac, one of the best untold stories on this KU team, to get to 1000 yards today on his final game at Memorial Stadium.

TexasLousiville at South Florida
Classic case of a one time homecoming queen, caught up in all the new-found attention, becomes the class whore by semester’s end. Now am I referring to the ESPN the Mag cover boys or the nations first #2 cursed team in SFla.. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm….Given I am in a time crunch, South Florida’s stock continues to free-fall, while the CARD(inal) has leveled off. Putting my money on the Cards.

TechOU at Tech
Best game of the day. While everyone is talking about the $10K Leach shelled out this week the troops in Norman were watching the Ducks unravel. No question now, most are looking for the Sooners win out and play for the national championship. But line of thinking comes crashing down today and Tech not only covers, they upset the Sooners at home. Get your guns up and your lean on…..

Duke at ND The golden domers can’t pin this poor performance on academic standards. Going with Duke to cover here.

Ohio St at MichiganHart and Henney play hurt and salvage the season. Michigan covers and wins.

Standings through 11

The pack begins to separate as Blaine, Julie and I picked up 4 of 5 over the weekend. With only two weeks in the regular season and the conference championships remaining  Julie would need to fall flat on her face — pun intended — to give up four points to me. Blaine has the best shot of overtaking the winner but he will need to go out on a limb to do so. Should make for an interesting finish….

  1. Julie – 29
  2. Blaine – 27
  3. self – 26
  4. RObert – 23
  5. Mark – 20

Week 11 Line-up

Here’s this week’s line-up

  • Louisville (+16) at West Virginia…this is a Thursday night game
  • Kansas (-6) at Oklahoma St
  • Texas Tech (+6.5) at Texas
  • Wildcard: Florida (-6.5) at South Carolina
  • Wildcard: tamu (+19.5) at mizzou

Louisville at West Virginia
I’m going out on a limb here and will take the Cards to cover. Reason….two fold. One, everyone will most likely go with the Mountaineers, being the logical pick, so this is a chance to pick up a point. Second, Louisville still has a chance to salvage this season with a win tonight. I don’t think they can win but they will pull out all the stops against a defense that was exposed by what has become a mediocre South Florida team. Yes, factoring in the putrid Louisville D makes me cringe as I type this but the play of Brohm and a few turn-overs keep it within the line. Go Cards…

KUKU at Oklahoma St.
Basketball as the bridesmaid…that is the talk coming out of Lawrence. Self and co., who is a huge KU football fan, play twice this weekend and all the talk is about football post season possibilities…Holiday, Cotton, BCS….

Storyline….KU will handle the run. The ‘man’, who has salivated over the Nebraska tape over over a week now, won’t hesitate to turn the majority of the looks over to their talented receiving and tight end corp. KU will get their points, OSU’s secondary is horrific, both on the ground and through the air. This one will be a shoot-out with KU wearing the Pokes down late in the game. KU covers, in a night game, where we can only hope Mangino breaks out the velour once again. Come on Velvet Phog.

Texas vs Tech

I’m torn on this one and looking for any stat that will push me one way or the other. The one that jumped out is, once again, Texas’ secondary has been exposed and Tech, as always, is proficient through the air. Charles has been the difference maker over the last two week but his play alone wont be enough to cover the spread. I’ll take Tech to cover.

Wildcard: South Carolina vs. Florida Florida knows the Ol Ball Coach hype will garner the attention, hell I picked this one, and will turn this into a statement game. Gators cover.

Wildcard:tamu vs mizzou missouri is sick of hearing about the 76 KU put up last week and will go for 77. mizzou covers while Fran searchs out a Columbia strip club in the middle the third quarter.

Standings through 10

A strong performance from the West Coast contingent in a week with two pushes. Julie and I notched three while the rest of the pack picked up one. Still anyone’s race….

  1. Julie: 25
  2. Blaine: 23
  3. self: 22
  4. RObert: 21
  5. Mark: 17

As always…feel free to double check the scores for discrepancies….

Standings through Week 9

An update half-way though as we close out this historic Sat…

  • Julie and I have picked up two of two –with the Texas and LSU/Bama games a wash — and she has taken sole possession of first place with 24
  • Blaine remains in second with 23
  • RObert and I are knotted up at 21
  • Mark continues to saw wood at 17

The LSU/Bama game is turning out to be a classic.

In a week where one excelled (Julie), some were mediocre, and some less than mediocre (self, RObert) this remains anyone’s contest….

  1. Julie & Blaine 22
  2. RObert 20
  3. Brent 19
  4. Mark 16

Feel free to double check my scoring
